About the Editors
Kj Swanson
Written by Josué Blanco
The first thing you must get down if you plan on befriending Kj Swanson (which I highly recommend), is getting the name down – uppercase K lowercase j. After that, just mention some young adult reading or BBC television show and she’s your best friend. Kj is kind-hearted, witty, and deceptively smart – deceptive because after a short time with her, you come to realize that you’ve never had such deep conversation around Harry Potter or Firefly. Before Seattle, Kj lived in New York where she worked in casting and dramaturgy for theatres both Off-Broadway and On. With a passion for the arts and the church, Kj graduated from The Seattle School in 2010 with her MDiv. She captivatingly journals on her own blog about pop culture, spirituality, and how they intersect. She also has a strange love for her sofa square.
Kj works as the main conduit between Stories at The Seattle School and The Seattle School community. She discovers the stories in our building and offers students and faculty a space to share them. Kj is also an Assistant Instructor at The Seattle School, giving her great experience in editing student work.
Josué Blanco
Written by Kj Swanson
Josué Blanco hails from the humid state of Florida, which accounts for his odd preference of sunshine and bright colors. As a graphic designer, Josué knows his away around fonts – both serif and sans – and has been designing internetty things for businesses and individuals as far back as the pre-Twitter days. Josué studied sociology and graphic design at Florida State University and received his Master of Divinity from The Seattle School in 2009. Josué is a gifted conversationalist who enthusiastically laughs at other people’s jokes and encourages collaboration in all things. Smart, suave and super-good at everything, Josué brings a pastor’s heart and artist’s eye to every project he undertakes. He lives in Seattle with his wife Nicole, who is also off-the-charts-awesome.
Josué mostly takes care of the technical aspects of Stories at The Seattle School, but contributes to posts every now and then. He also works at The Seattle School doing marketing and communications and is passionate about the story and brand of the school.
